"WHITFIELD, a parish in the hundred of King's-Sutton, county Northampton, 2 miles N.E. from Brackley. The village is situated on the river Ouse. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough, value £258, in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Worcester College, Oxford, who are also lords of the manor. The church is dedicated to St. John the Evangelist. There are National and infant schools. The charities produce about £70 per annum."
