HIGHAM-GOBION:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"HIGHAM-GOBION, a parish in the hundred of FLITT, county of BEDFORD, 2 miles (S.E. by S.) from Silsoe, containing 86 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Bedford, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £8. 9. 7. R. Lee, Esq. was patron in 1812. The church, dedicated to St. Margaret, contains a monument to the memory of Dr. Edmund Castell, a learned orientalist, author of the Lexicon Heptaglotton, and a principal in the publication of the Polyglott Bible; he was born at Hatley, in Cambridgeshire, in 1606, was for several years rector of this parish, and a Prebendary in the Cathedral Church of Canterbury; he died here at the age of seventy-nine, having lost his sight some time previously, caused, as it is related, by incessant study."
