"WHIPSNADE, a parish in the hundred of MANSHEAD, county of BEDFORD, 3 miles (south-west) from Dunstable, containing 199 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Bedford, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £7.13.4., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene."
