Founded in Saxon times. The parish church was that of St George until 1874 when a new replacement Victorian church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, took over as the parish church. This lasted until 1971 when Holy Trinity church was made redundant and the building sold. The parish reverted to the now restored Medieval building of St George in 1972, and has continued there ever since.
