will of john goddard of north hidon gent, very sick and weak in body.
to my dear wife elizabeth goddard all the goods that were hers before i married her, also £20 in lieu of the rent of my hoding [sic] at overton the time i have let it being not expired.
to my daughter martha godard £50.
to my daugher elizabeth £50.
to my daughter mary wife of john maslin 1s.
to my saughter in law elizabeth saice (?) 20s.
to mr john clarke minister of hungerford 10s.
to the poor of edington and newtown 10s.
to my servants thomas harris, john harris and joane arundelle 1s each.
overseers: to my loving friends and kinsmen john butler and thomas butler 1s each, who are to be my overseers.
my 2 sons john goddard and thomas goddard to have my lease of putkins and the sands shared equally until my son john comes to enjoy my living at overton at which time my son thomas to have the lease of putkins and the sands wholly to himself.
my sons john goddard and thomas goddard to be joint executors and have the residue shared equally. [testator makes his mark]. dated 17 december 1661.
witnesses: thomas butler, john butler jnr, joane arndelle.
probate london 7 january 1662 to thomas goddard the son and one of the executors named in the will.
Power reserved to john goddard the other executor named in the will.
