1728 richard sheppard grove wantage brk dean of sarum will 10420
will of richard sheppard the elder of grove in wantage, yeoman
whereas my eldest son richard sheppard having a right to a moiety of the estate at grove which did belong to his late deceased uncle thomas winterborne and to that part of my estate that was settled on my marriage with his mother [etc] i give him 2s 6d notwithstanding he is proved so far a lunatic as he is unable to look after himself and the care of him committed to my second son william & me etc.
to my 2 sons thomas and john sheppard £3 each
to my daughter dorothy sheppard £3
to my daughter martha the wife of francis willis £10
to my daughter margarett the wife of john hedding £10
to my son willimam sheppard 2 acres of meadow in the common wood of grove with the double cow leaze or cow commons which lands and cow commons i purchased of samual tull, 4 acres of arable in grove in a field ther called norton
the house in grove in which i now dwell.
