1)will of thomas strowde of shorthgrove in the parish of baydon, yeoman [original will]

to the poor of baydon 20s
to john wilde vicar of ramsbury 10s to preach my funeral sermon if he be still living
to those that shall ring my 'forthe' peale at my funeral 3s
to the gravedigger 12d
to elizabeth strowde my wife the house in which i now dwell and 8 acres of arable called shortgrove and 6 acres called lower shortgrove in the parish of baydon for her lifetime
after her decases the same let out by my executors until £20 is raised and the same paid to my son in law thomas chamberlayne it being a debt i owe him on bond.
after the debt is paid the said house and 8 acres for the remainder of my term of lease to thomas chamberlayne the younger the son of the above said thomas and one joined bedstead standing in the said house.
to john chamberlayne another of the sons of the said thomas the said 6 acres called lower shortgrove, immediately after the £20 has been raised
to every of my daughters a sheep
to the rest of my children of the said thomas chamberlayne my son in law the sum of the £20 divided equally between them after the death of my wife. in the meantime the £20 to remain in the hands of thomas chamberlayne who is to pay 20s per annum to my wife.
to the children of my daughter jane now wife of richard wheeler £20 after the death of my wife, the sum to remain in the hands of richard wheeler, meantime who gives my wife 20s per annum.
to my wife all linen and bedding and all my brasse and pewter and wooden etc, which remain at my house at the time of my decease also 2 of the best beasts and 1 of the best hog pigs.
the rest of my goods and chattels to thomas chamberlayne and richard wheeler my sons in law who are joint executors
overseers: benjamin barly of baydon yeoman, and stephen barley of aldborne yeoman
if any difference shall arise between my executors then the arbitration of my overseers is final
