"BARRAWAY is a hamlet and chapelry in the parish of Soham, in
the Fen lands, near the navigable Ouse, river Cam and Soham lode, 3½; miles
south from Ely station on the London and North Eastern railway and 3½; north-west
from Soham, in the petty sessional division and union of Newmarket and county court
district of Soham; it consists only of a few farmhouses.
The soil is various. The chief crops are wheat, barley, oats and beans."
