Help and advice for Cheshire Church Names Decoder

If you have found a problem on this page then please report it on the following form. We will then do our best to fix it. If you are wanting advice then the best place to ask is on the area's specific email lists. All the information that we have is in the web pages, so please do not ask us to supply something that is not there. We are not able to offer a research service.

If you wish to report a problem, or contribute information, then do use the following form to tell us about it. We have a number of people each maintaining different sections of the web site, so it is important to submit information via a link on the relevant page otherwise it is likely to go to the wrong person and may not be acted upon.

Cheshire Church Names Decoder

GENUKI CHS is perhaps unique in having not one but two sets of church pages:

  • the official set of church database (CHS CDB) pages, auto-importing links into relevant parish pages, and searchable online from the Church Database.
  • an earlier set of plain pages, built to a different format and naming convention. These pages contain church history and church records information, much now been captured in relevant church nodes.

All further updates will be to the church database nodes, no further additions to the plain pages will be made, although these will remain for now, at least until all have had a relevant church node identified, or a new church node created where necessary, as removal will require prior changes to the parish pages.

Church nodes should be used by preference, they contain more information including a location map, and (usually) a church photograph.

The following draft list facilitates mapping between the plain page naming and church database naming conventions.

Note that a number of plain pages map to a smaller number of common church/congregation database nodes, due to church closures within recent years.

This is not a complete list of  Church Database nodes. To explore the church database, Search the Church Database. A complete list is available only to Genuki Maintainers.
