ALDERLEY EDGE

  • Alderley Edge is a civil parish (SJ 8478) created in 1894 from the urban part of Chorley (near Wilmslow).
  • It includes the hamlets of Belmont, Elm Grove and The Ryleys.
  • The population of Alderley Edge was 2223 in 1901, 3689 in 1951, and 4409 in 2001.

Cemeteries

  • Alderley Edge Cemetery, Ryles Lane. Opened 1906.

  • Chorley, St. Philip (Church of England). A district church for part of Alderley Edge from 1894.
  • Lindow: St. John the Evangelist (Church of England). A district church for part of Aldelrey Edge from 1894.
  • Alderley Edge: St. Pius X (Roman Catholic). Built in 1946.
  • Alderley Edge, Baptist Chapel. Brook Lane. Founded in 1890.
  • Alderley Edge, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1863. Registers of baptisms 1863-1979 are at the Cheshire Record Office.
