GREASBY

  • Greasby was a township in the ancient parishes of West Kirby and Thurstaston, Wirral hundred (SJ 2587), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • Since 1974 it has been an unparished area in the county of Merseyside.
  • The population was 123 in 1801, 177 in 1851, 290 in 1901, and 4367 in 1951.

Churches

  • West Kirby: St. Bridget (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the greater part (748 acres, pop. 172 in 1871) of Greasby.
  • Thurstaston: St. Bartholomew (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the smaller part (61 acres, pop. 21 in 1871) of Greasby.
  • Frankby: St. John the Divine (Church of England). The district church for part of Greasby from 1861.
  • Greasby, St. Nicholas (Church of England). Entries made in Frankby registers.
  • Greasby, Presbyterian Church (Church of England). Built in 1889.
