"SUTTON (GUILDEN), a parish in the lower division of the hundred of BROXTON, county palatine of CHESTER, 3¼ miles (E.N.E.) from Chester, containing 131 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester, endowed with £600 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Sir J. T. Stanley, Bart."   • Guilden Sutton,  a township and ancient parish in Broxton hundred (SJ 4467), became a civil parish in 1866.
  • In 1954 a large part of Hoole civil parish was added to Guilden Sutton.
  • It includes the hamlet of Heath Bank and Piper's Ash (part).
  • The population was 158 in 1801, 221 in 1851, 347 in 1901, 442 in 1951, and 1525 in 2001.

The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Chester, value £50. The church is a small brick edifice. There are a few small charities."
