Church History

It was founded in 1854. It closed in 1893.

Church History

Built in 1854 as the district church for Marlston cum Lache (previously served by Chester: St. Mary on the Hill). and Saltney (previously served by the Flintshire parish of Hawarden, in the Diocese of Saint Asaph). The boundaries of "The Consolidated Chapelry of Lache cum Saltney" were described in the London Gazette on 16 October 1855: 

"The boundary commences at a point in the centre of the stream of the River Dee, where the parishes of Saint Mary-on-the-Hill and Hawarden meet, and thence proceeds in an easterly direction to the southern bank of the said river, at the north-western corner of a field marked No. 8 in the Tithe Commutation "Map of Saint Mary's parish, where a ditch falls into the river dividing the said field from a field marked No. 31 on the same map, thence following the western fence of field No. 8 in a south-easterly direction till it abuts upon another field No. 25, the hedge of which field it follows westerly along a steep brow to the western corner of the last-named field No. 25, adjoining 'Red-hill,' and thence along the south-western fence of the same field No. 25, till it reaches the point where Hough-green and Redhill meet, from which point it crosses in a straight line southerly the Brick Kiln ground on Houghgreen across the Chester and Mold Turnpike-road direct to the eastern corner of a field marked No. 43 in the said tithe-map, and proceeds along the south-eastern fence thereof, and also of field No. 42, in a south-westerly direction, until it reaches the eastern fence of field No. 41, which last-mentioned fence it follows, and also the eastern fence of field No. 67, and crossing the Lache-road or lane in the same direction, proceeds along the eastern fence of another field No. 100, and also of No. 99, and then along the southern fence of the said field No. 99, unt il it reaches and follows the eastern fence of field No. 14, and then along the southern fence of No. 14 to the eastern fence of field No. 15, and along that fence southerly, until it abuts on field No.17, which last-mentioned field it crosses in a southerly direction to the point where a little runlet passes under the Chester and Wrexham Turnpike- road, which runlet it follows along the eastern fence of field No. 18, to its south-eastern angle, where the boundary of the parish of Saint Mary-on-the-Hill meets the boundary of Eccleston Parish, thence following the boundary of the parish of Saint Mary-on-the-Hill and the parish of Eccleston in a south-westerly direction, unt il they meet the parish of Dodleston, then in a northerly direction along the boundary line of the said parishes of Saint Mary-on-the-Hill and Dodleston, until it reaches the north-western angle of the meadows, called 'Lache Eyes,' at a point called 'Mitchell's Nooke,' No.19 on the said tithe-map where it returns easterly, still following the boundary of the same parish of Saint Mary-on-the-Hill, till it comes to a brook at the north-eastern corner of field No. 94, along the middle of which brook the boundary line of the said consolidated chapelry proceeds (at the western side of fields Nos. 441, 445 and 457, in Hawarden Parish), north-easterly to the point where a lane, called Sandy-lane, joins the Chester and Mold Turnpike-road, and thence along the middle of the same brook, passing under the said turnpikeroad, by a bridge called Stone Bridge, until such brook reaches a flood gate of eight sluices, from the centre of which flood gate the boundary proceeds to the middle of the River Dee, along the middle of which said river it proceeds in an easterly direction, until it again reaches the point where the boundary line of the said consolidated chapelry of Lache-cum-Saltney commenced" 

Holy Epiphany closed in 1894 and was replaced by the new church of Lache cum Saltney: St. Mark.
