Church History

An ancient parish church, originally serving the townships of Byley, Clive, Croxton, Kinderton cum Hulme, Middlewich, Minshull Vernon, Mooresbarrow with Parme, Newton by Middlewich, Occlestone, Ravenscroft, Sproston, Stublach, Sutton, Weaver, and Wimboldsley.

The district was affected by the following boundary changes:

  • 1848 April 25 — reduced when the townships of Sproston and Stublach, and parts of the townships of Byley, Kinderton cum Hulme and Leese, were transferred to Byley cum Lees: St. John the Evangelist.
  • 1850 — reduced when the township of Leighton was transferred to Leighton cum Minshull Vernon: St. Peter.
