POOLE

"POOLE, a township in the parish of ACTON, hundred of NANTWICH, county palatine of CHESTER, 2¼ miles (N. W. by N.) from Nantwich, containing 185 inhabitants. The Chester canal passes within its western boundary" [From Samuel Lewis A Topographical Dictionary of England  (1831) ©Mel Lockie]

  • Poole was a township in Acton ancient parish, Nantwich hundred (SJ 6355), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • The population was 168 in 1801, 167 in 1851, 155 in 1901, 99 in 1951, and 101 in 2001.
