  • Threapwood was an extra-parochial place (SJ 4445), partly in Broxton hundred [Cheshire] and partly in Maelor hundred [Flintshire], which became a civil parish in 1866.
  •  In 1896 the part of Threapwood in Flintshire was addedto Cheshire.
  • It includes the hamlets of Sarn (part) and Upper Threapwood.
  • The population was 256 in 1851, 305 in 1901, 290 in 1951, and 285 in 2001.


  • Threapwood: St. John (Church of England). Founded in 1817 as a chapel to Malpas: St. Oswald.
  • Malpas: St. Oswald (Church of England). The district church for Malpas from 1968.
  • Threapwood, United Reformed Church (Independent/Congregational). Built in 1850.
