This page describes information identified as (typically) Extracts of ... Parish Records
within the GENUKI: Derbyshire site. Ideally, you have
arrived here by following a link entitled "About this Information" from one of
these pages. If you arrived here by some other means, please review the list of
Derbyshire Towns & Parishes for available records.
These pages provide a pot-pourri of vital events collected by
myself and others for the purposes of our own interest and research.
They do not represent complete extractions from any one source, nor complete coverage
of all records which may be available for a particular place, so if you don't find what
you're looking for here, don't give up hope! There are still more resources to be researched.
Contributions of additional material are always welcome, so you would like information
from your own research to be added please see Further
Contributions below.
Information includes typically, SURNAME, FORENAME(s), Type of EVENT, DATE, SOURCE
and RELATED_TO (either Spouse or Parents). Surname-variants are grouped together
and listed in date order within variant. Note: this may sometimes cause confusion
in listing as for instance Birds and Byrds are included together and
precede Bland.
Contributors (besides myself, Rosemary Lockie)
include Janet Kirk, Glenn Trezza, Andrea Taylor, Chris Bennett, Heather Granger, Michael
Spencer, Trevor Wilcock and others. See
Derbyshire GENUKI Service Providers for contact details.
The Surname/Forename columns may contain additional information which may be of
two forms:-
In the case of a marriage, the information relates to that person, and has
usually been obtained from the original source. Comparable Information relating
to their partner will be included under the Related to/Remarks columns.
In the case of birth/baptism, or death/burial, the information is generally speaking
NOT in the original record, and is a note to myself of when that person may have
died, been married, or was born, or it may be a note of a lady's maiden surname
(such as née Goddard). Such notes reflect my opinions, based on my current
interpretation of the information I have available to me. Your version may differ, and
indeed I might have to form a new assessment myself if new information becomes
available to me so do treat these comments with caution, as I'm sure you will.
Information under the table heading of "Source" consists of two parts.
The first two characters are an indication of the ORGINAL source of the data, and
abbreviations which may be used are as follows:-
If these two characters are followed by a slash, the remaining two characters
are the initials of the researcher who was kind enough to contribute the data -
(in no particular order) JK = Janet Kirk; GT = Glenn Trezza; AT = Andrea Taylor;
CB = Chris Bennett; HG = Heather Granger; MS = Michael Spencer ;
TW = Trevor Wilcock.

If you find something you don't understand which isn't in the above list,
and you're desperate to know what it is, then do ask, but be aware I
may well have forgotten what I intended originally!

This collection consists of a list of names and events from a very wide range of sources
which have been collected by myself and others for the purposes of our own interest,
and research. They do not represent complete extractions from any one source, nor
complete coverage of all records which may be available for a particular place
[yes, it said something similar to that earlier too.]
We very much hope that you find something of interest here. However,
as with any transcript, or index, please use this data as a finding
aid only, and NOT as a definitive source. Whilst we will have made every
effort to transcribe accurately from the original records, we do not
claim to achieve 100% accuracy. Therefore if you find some information
of interest, it is strongly recommended you check the original source for
yourself to verify that the information is correct.
Finally, we would be delighted to correct any errors which you find, and would
be happy also to receive any extractions of data which you yourself
may have available. Please contact:
(Rosemary Lockie)
Thank you.
