Church History
- It appears that there was a Christian church here before the Norman Conquest.
- The Chapel of Ease was a small structure with a tower and two bells.
- The chapel was dedicated to Saint Giles.
- The chapel was completely renovated in 1843.
- The chapel was restored in 1865.
- The chapel seats 80.

Church Records
- Apparently the chapel was nor licesned to perform marriages; those were performed at Stapenhill.
- The Anglican parish register dates from 1679 and is incorporated with that of Stapenhill.
- The Baptists had a small chapel here before 1857 which was still in operation in 1891.

"CAULDWELL, a hamlet in the parish of Stapenhill, hundred of Repton and Gresley, in the county of Derby, 4 miles to the S. of Burton-on-Trent."
