Latest Information
April 2004
Most of you have heard of this index, the first edition of which is
now available on CDs. A number of you will have purchased it. However,
you may not be aware that the Derbyshire Ancestral Research Group
is the only group in our county who is at present contributing to this
project.
It takes many hours of work to transcribe each burial register,
especially when the entries are hard to decipher. The transcripts are
then sent for inputting onto computer and printouts are sent to us for
checking. Sheets which need correcting are returned to the inputter
who after any corrections are made, sends the completed work on disc
to be merged into the NBI database under the control of the Federation
of Family History Societies.
