Derbyshire Record Office, Matlock holds the registers of Wills proved at Derby Probate Registry for the period 1858-1928 for the whole county, where they may be searched on microfilm. All Wills post-1858 were proved at Derby, because the person died in Derbyshire.
Michael's index covers the whole period 1858-1928; but only a small number of those proved at Lichfield, so coverage of the period 1525-1858 is almost certainly incomplete.
The Year given is when Probate was granted, not the date of the Will, or even the year of death, although Probate would have usually been within one or two years of that time.
The place given is the place of residence when the will was written and may not necessarily be the last known address.
