GLEANINGS IN THE PEAK AND WEST DERBYSHIRE … “Let us now go into the fields and glean”.
Hope Valley (Bradwell, Hathersage, Bamford, Castleton, Etc.)
There was an important meeting of the committee of the Hathersage Brass Band in the Band Room on Thursday last week, Mr. J. P. Wilkin in the chair. Among those present were Messrs. H. Morley, R. J. Armfield, W. Kirby, J. Palmer, A. Harrison, J. E. Frost, H. Frost, and W. H. Hickinson (secretary). The important question of forming a learners' class was discussed, and the appointment of a tutor. This course will doubtless be adopted at a future meeting, and will prove of great usefulness so as to keep band up to a high pitch both in numbers and efficiency. The general meeting is to be held on 25th, and there is to be the first annual dinner on the 30th. Last Saturday the band paraded the village, and played at football cup match.
