Highlow 1891 CENSUS, Derbyshire

The Crown waives its copyright in Crown copyright material in public records (such as Census returns) available to the public which were unpublished when they were transferred (ex. 26 March 1999)
We hereby acknowledge the Public Record Office's custody of the original returns.

Bakewell : Sub-District Tideswell RG12/2777
Enumeration District 4 (part of)
Highlow in the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Michael Hathersage

"Boundary. The Whole of the Civil Parish of Highlow, Comprising the Village of Highlow, Mount Pleasant and Lead Mills.
The whole in the Parliamentary Division of West Derbyshire."

The Enumerator was Mr. George Platts.

This transcription has been provided very kindly by Frances Hudson, recorded from microfiche obtained through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Family History Centre in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Addresses contain Folio ('F'), Page ('P') and Census Schedule ('S') Numbering - for example 'F18/P1/S1' - Folio 18, Page 1, Schedule 1. The Folio is the number hand-stamped at the top right of each odd-numbered page and the Schedule is the household sequence adopted for the Census return. This is not necessarily a house number, nor even an indication that particular households are next to each other, but merely the order the Enumerator recorded the households.

From 1891 the Census the form includes three columns to be marked if the person was "Employer", "Employee", or "Neither". I have added these to Frances's transcription from microfiche GS#6097887 on loan to me as part of the FreeCEN project as a single letter here enclosed in SQUARE [] BRACKETS, which when present will follow the Occupation field and indicate whether the person was an Employer ('R'), Employee ('E') or "Neither Employer nor Employed" ('N').

Frances herself would love to hear from anyone interested in the HUDSON Family listed in her transcription. Her email address is: . Thank you.
