"KILBOURNE, (or Kilburn) a township in the parish of Horsley, hundred of Morleston, county Derby, 3 miles S.E. of Belper, its post town, 3 N.E. of Duffield, and 7 N.E. of Derby. The village, which is small, is situated on the Alfreton and Derby road. The inhabitants are principally employed in framework knitting. There is an abundant supply of coal of excellent quality, for which Kilbourne is famed. There are places of worship for Baptists and Wesleyans, with a Sunday-school.

There is also a girls' school. Kilbourne Hall, the principal residence, is situated in a spacious park, the gardens of which contain a number of yew-trees of considerable antiquity, which are formed into the shape of birds."

"KILBURN, a station on the Derby and Ripley branch of the Midland railway in the parish of Horsley, county Derbyshire, 3 miles from Ripley, and 7¼ from Derby."
