Ideally you will have arrived at this page because you are interested in an abstract of a Will contributed by An ALLPORT Researcher to the above collection, and you are hoping to be able to contact her. If you reached here by a search engine or other means, you may wish to explore Derbyshire Probate Records to understand better what this web site is about first.
Contact details for: An ALLPORT Researcher (none available) Additional Notes: This collection of Wills were transcribed (by the submitter) from LDS film of Pedigrees and Genealogical notes of the Allport's of Cannock and elsewhere in England (compiled by William Allport Leighton), FHL#0477789. Whilst not directly connected with Derbyshire research, providing this information online may nevertheless prove useful to someone. It is believed that the Allport families were from Derbyshire originally, before one or more of them moved down to Cannock Forest as wardens, in the 14th century. And it seems likely they took their surname from 'Alport' near Youlgreave. Appropriately, the LDS film provides the following supportive detail: (p.212)In a FOLJAMBE deed 3 EDWARD 3, Robert de ALDEPORT capellamy was one of the trustees (Robert de EDENSOR, was the other) of Thos. fil' Thoas. FOLJAMBE of lands in Tydeswell, Lylton, Wormhill, Hopelow(?), Longdon. This charter is in Belvoir Castle. From the chartertary of Welber (Cotton MS Titus c10), Henry de HOTCH (?)granted to Radulph ABBOT (1243-7) the mill of Aldeport in Yolgrave which Robert (fst) WYMER held. Charter of confirmation (at Osberton the Foljambs) of grants of Robt' fil' Wm. de ALDEPORTE attested by Sir Gervase de BERWICH, Sir Wm. de AUBINI, Sir Wm. de CHARESWORTH (?) (who died 27 Henry 1) Sir Rad de ECCELSALL, John de VILERS, Peter de BIRCHARD & Wm. de GOTHAM.[Hint: press the "Back" arrow in your browser's toolbar to return to the page which brought you here]
