Rowland, Derbyshire

Extract from Directory of "Sheffield and 20 miles round", 1862

ROWLAND is a small township and village, 3½ miles N. from Bakewell, contains 2044. 1R. 9P. of land, and in 1861 had 70 inhabitants, Col. Leslie is lord of the manor and sole owner. Here is a school, free for 12 children. Feast, nearest Sunday to All Saints.
