Description and Travel

Some individuals think Shirebrook is in Nottingham, but that is incorrect. Shirebrook is still in Derbyshire, but for Civil Registration purposes it is in the Mansfield, Nottingham, Registration District.

"SHIREBROOK, a chapelry in the parish of Pleasley, hundred of Scarsdale, county Derby, 10 miles N.E. of Alfreton, and 5 N.W. of Mansfield, on the border of Nottinghamshire. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Lichfield, value £62, in the patronage of the Rector of Pleasley."
