Bond of Indemnity against the dower of Hannah wife of Francis DIGHT senr in the messuage or dwelling house etc in Axminster purchased by sd Mr STEVENS of sd Mr Frederick DIGHT senr .......... Messrs DIGHT to the Revd F G STEVENS.

Know all men by these presents that we Francis Dight the elder of Axminster in the co of Devon fellmonger and Francis Dight the younger of the same place fellmonger are held and firmly bound to Francis Grubb Stevens of Axminster aforesaid minister of the gospel in the sum of fifty pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Francis Grubb Stevens or his certain Attorney Executors administrations or assigns for the true payment thereof we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents sealed with our seals dated this 13th Sept in the year of our Lord 1785.

Whereas in and by certain Indentures of Lease and Release and Assignment the Lease bearing date the day next before the day of the date of the above written obligation and the release and assignment being of four parts made between the said Francis Dight the younger of the first part, the said Francis Dight the elder of the second part, the said Francis Grubb Stevens of the third part and Samuel Stevens of Honiton in the said co of Devon minister of the gospel in the fourth part All that messuage tenement or dwelling house with the Fellmongers yard formerly a garden plot thereunto belonging lying in the Back Lane in the parish of Axminster afsd in and by the same Indenture of Release and Assignment particularly mentioned and described were for the full and valuable consideration in the said Release and Assignment mentioned granted and conveyed unto the above named Francis Grubb Stevens his heirs and assigns To the use of the said Francis Grubb Stevens ...... for ever And the said premises with the appur`nts were in and by the said Release and Assignment assigned unto the said Samuel Stevens his exors admors and assigns for the residue of a term of five hundred years In trust to wait upon and attend the fee simple and Inheritance thereof And Whereas some doubts have arisen as to the Dower of Hannah the wife of the said Francis Dight the elder which she may hereafter claim in to or out of the said premises Now the Condition of the above written obligation is such that if the above bounden Francis Dight the elder and Francis Dight the younger or either of them their or either of their heirs executors or administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter well and sufficiently save defend keep harmless and indemnified as well the above named Francis Grubb Stevens his heirs executors administrators and assigns as also his their and every of their lands and tenements goods and chattels of from and against as well as all action and actions of Dower as also all the estate right title interest claim and demand whatsoever which she the said Hannah wife of the above bounden Francis Dight the elder may can or shall hereafter have or claim of in to or out of the said recited messuage tenement or dwellinghouse .................
