BICKLEIGH

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"BICKLEIGH, a parish in the hundred of Roborough, in the county of Devon, 6 miles to the N.E. of Plymouth. It is situated in a beautiful valley on the hanks of the Catwater, and is a station on the Tavistock branch of the South Devon railway. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Exeter, value, with the perpetual curacy of Sheepstor annexed to it, £253, in the patronage of Sir R. Lopes, Bart. There is an almshouse for poor widows."
