In the name of God Amen. I George Paige of the Parish of Black Torrington in the County of Devon Yeoman am of a perfect sound mind memory and understanding do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament as follows
I give and bequeath to my grandson James Sparke son of my son in law William Sparke the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money to be paid him when he arrives at the age of twenty one years out of my freehold estates called Bridge and Cow in the said Parish of Black Torrington
I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Elizabeth Paige Sparke daughter of my said son in law William Sparke the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money to be paid her when she arrives at the age of twenty one years out of my freehold estates called Bridge and Cow aforesaid
I give and bequeath unto my grandson William Sparke son of my said son in law William Sparke the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money to be paid him at his arriving at the age of twenty one years out of my freehold estates called Bridge and Cow and my will and meaning is that if either of them my said three grandchildren happen to die before he she or they arrive at the age of twenty one years then in that case the share of the said grandchild or grandchildren to go to his her or their survivor or survivors as the case may be
I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah Paige the sum of five hundred pounds of good and lawful money to be paid her as follows one hundred pounds to be paid her out of my freehold estate called Gortley situate in the Parish of Sheepwash in the said County of Devon twelve months after my decease Two hundred pounds by my aftermentioned Executor and Executrix out of my Goods and Chattels at Bridge aforesaid also twelve months after my decease and the remaining two hundred pounds also by my aftermentioned Executor and Executrix out of my said Goods and Chattels two years after my decease
I give and bequeath to my daughter Betty Abel the sum of three hundred pounds of good and lawful money to be paid to her as follows two hundred pounds at the end of twelve months and the remaining one hundred pounds at the end of two years after my decease out of my two freehold estates called Bridge and Cow in the said Parish of Black Torrington
I give and bequeath to my daughter Grace Bawden the sum of three hundred pounds of good and lawful money to be paid to her as follows two hundred pounds at the end of twelve months and the remaining one hundred pound at the end of two years after my decease out of my freehold estates called Bridge and Cow aforesaid
I also give and bequeath to my said daughter Grace Bawden upon trust of my son William Paige the sum of twelve pounds per year each and every year during her natural life from my decease free and clear from any present or future husband to be paid out of my freehold estate Bridge and Cow aforesaid
I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Paige all the money that she now calls her own that was given her by her father's Will and now to interest in her father's name and also by her mother's Will in her own name
I give and bequeath to my son James Paige all my freehold estate of Gortley aforesaid to have and to hold the same with its appurtenances to himself his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns for ever subject to the payment of the sum of one hundred pounds by me on this Will given to my daughter Hannah Paige
I give and bequeath unto my son William Paige all of my two freehold estates called Bridge and Cow aforesaid subject to the payments of the annuities in this will beforementioned and also the annuities James Parish and Elizabeth Lovering and also subject to my wife Elizabeth Paige having a right of a living in Bridge house or such part thereof as she should choose during her natural life which said to estates of Bridge and Cow
I give and bequeath with the appurtenances thereto belonging to my said son William Paige and to his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns forever
I give and bequeath to my said wife Elizabeth Paige and to my said son William Paige all other of my Goods Chattels Credits Notes Bonds Monies and Surities for money and I also nominate and appoint my said wife Elizabeth Paige and my said son William Paige my whole and sole Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament in witness I the said George Paige the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament being written on five sheets of paper written my name on the first four sheets and written my name and fixed my Seal on this last sheet
This twenty seventh day of April One thousand eight hundred and forty eight
