BUTTERLEIGH, a parish, forming a detached portion of the hundred of CLISTON, locally in the hundred of Hayridge, county of DEVON, 3¼ miles (S. E. by S.) from Tiverton, containing 144 inhabitants. The living is discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of-Exeter, rated in the king's books at £10: 8. 8., and in the patronage of the Crown.
