CLYST-HONITON

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"CLIST-HONITON, (or Honiton's Clyst), a parish in the hundred of East Budleigh, in the county of Devon, 3 miles N.E. of Topsham, its post town, and 4 E. of Exeter. The Great Western, and London and South Western railways both pass within a few miles of the village. The living is a perpetual curacy* in the diocese of Exeter, value £125, in the patronage of the dean and chapter, who are lords of the manor. The church, an old edifice with tower, possesses monuments and a Saxon font. There is a school with a small endowment, and the charities are of the value of £4 10s. per annum. A fair is held on Michaelmas Day.
