In the name of God Amen. the eighteenth day of September in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand sixe hundred twenty eight, And in the yeare of the Raigne of our most gratious soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of god of England Scotland ffraunce & Ireland kinge defender of the faith etc I Alexander Morrish of Morchard Crewes in the County of Devon clarke being in good & pfect health and memory for which I give God heartie thanks yet considering wth my sealfe the uncertenty of the lieffe of man, that the same is Done in a moment att the Will and Pleasure of Almightie God doe therefore make and ordayne this my last Will and Testament Revoking hereby all former Wills whatsoever by me made. First I comend my soule into the hands of Almighty God hoping by my faith in Jhesus Christ, and by his Merittes death and Passion, to be saved, my body I desier to be buryed in the Chauncel of the pish Church of Morchard Crewse according to the discretion of my executors and overseers heereafter in this my present Will & Testamt nominated & sett downe Item I give towardes the Repayring of the Church of Morchard Cruse aforesaid tenn shillinges Item I give to everyone of my godchildren being unmarryed at the tyme of my decease twelve pence apeece Item I give unto John Morrish my sonne twentie powndes Item I give unto Salomon Morrish twentie poundes Item I give unto Willm Morrish my youngest sonne twentie pounds and three platter dishes of tynne, three Podingers, three silver spones of the lesser sorte and one brasse panne containinge one gallon and halffe or thereaboutes, Item I give and bequeath unto my daughters Alys Lovell Anne Maunder Mary Ward Jane Reed Agnes Veysey and Elizabeth Saunders ffortie pounds a peece to be paid unto thyem wthin a yeare and halffe after my decease And my Will and meaninge is that if anie or either of my sixe Daughters shall happen to dye before their legacies shalbecome dewe and payable that her or their porcon or porcons so dyinge shalbe equally dyvided amongst her Children respectively Item I giue vnto the Children of my daughter Ellen Drake deceased twentie powndes to be equally devided amongst them. Item I giue vnto William Morrish thelder of Morchard Cruse twentie powndes.Item I giue vnto Mary Ward my daughter one bedstedd standing in the inner Chamber next the doore, three platter dishes of tynne, three podingers and one tynne pott of a quart. Item I giue vnto Thomas Drake my servaunt ffortie shillings Item my farther will and meaninge is to make and ordayne Agnes Morrish my daughter lawe one of my executors, And my Will is that she shall giue vnto each of her ffive Children now unmarried threescore and tenne powndes apeece to be paid vnto them wthin one yeare and halffe after my decease. And also my Will ffarther is, that the said somme of three hundred and ffiftie powndes formerly bequeathed to my graund Children is to come wholy out of the moity and part of the said Agnes Morrish her executorship And that the said Edmond Morrish my sonne be no way Charged therewith. ffinally I doe ordaine and appoint my sonne Edmond Morrish and Agnes Morrish the late Wieffe of George Morrish my sonne deceased to be my ioynt executors of this my Last will and Testamt, & vnto whom (my debtes Legacies and ffunerall discharged I giue all my goods & Chattlles wheresoever. And I doe desire & appoint my ffriends Robert Vppington George Maunder and William Veysey to be ovseers of this my Last Will, and I doe giue vnto each of them ffor their paynes thearein tenne shillinges a peece And ffarther my Will and meaninge is that if anie Controversie doe or shall arise towching anie gyfte [yntent or            ] in this my will that the same shalbe expownded ordered and decyded, by my said ouersears wthout any suite in lawe to be attempted therevppon. And yf they Cannott agree on the same Then I doe desire them to take the helpe and advice of the right worll Sr Symon Leach my vearie good ffriend whom I heartily praie to be pleased to tak some payment thearein if occasion requier. And for that purpose I doe appoint him to be vmpire and [            ] of any [             ] whatsoever my Overseers shall not agree on And for his paines therein I doe giue vnto him ffortie shillinges.
