John Flavell (or Flavel) was born in 1628 in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, son of Richard Flavel, a minister who died of the plague in 1665 while in prison for nonconformity. He was a commoner at University College, Oxford. In 1650, ordained at Salisbury, he then settled in Diptford. He married Joan Randall who died in child birth. Flavel then married Elizabeth Stapell. In 1656, he became Minister of Dartmouth. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the Princeton University Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
