WILL TRANSCRIPTS AND ABSTRACTS DISCOVERED IN THE WORLD WIDE WEB

The Source (WWW) and DWP's editing process

Our set of WWW source items contains entries obtained from searches of the World Wide Web, looking (mainly in personal web pages) for transcripts and abstracts of Devon-related wills and administrations. (It does not include entries from collections of scanned entire books, such as those in the Internet Archive or the Google Books collection - these are instead collected as our set of MISC source items. Similarly, will transcripts that are held in GENUKI/Devon are recorded separately.) The 'Reference' column indicates the URL at which the given transcript or abstract was located, and when this URL was obtained. Whenever a transcript includes details of the year in which probate was granted, this is the year that is recorded here - in other cases the year recorded here might be either the year of signature or of probate.

NOTE: It is not intended to try to update the entries to reflect changes of location (or disappearance) of pages - something that happens regrettably often to personal web pages. In such circumstances it may be possible to locate an archived copy of the lost page using the Internet Archive.

Locating the source and acquiring copies

This should all be possible online.
