The paper, read at the Association's 1885 Seaton meeting distinguishes between the works of two divines named Rev Dr George Oliver, both of eminent literary ability. The first, who is the focus of this paper, a celebrated ecclesiastical antiquary and Roman Catholic priest working and writing for 54 years in Exeter; and the other, a Church of England divine who made distinguished contributions to Freemasonry, particularly in Massachusetts.
