The Notes, appearing in four sections treat with members of the celebrated clerical Penrose family, originally of Falmouth. Rev. John Penrose was born in 1713, He was appointed Vicar of St. Gluvias and married Elizabeth, daughter of the Rev. John Vinicombe, of Exeter, Died in 1776. His youngest son, born at Gluvias in 1759, became a distinguished officer in the Navy, and fought under Lord Exmouth. His biography, together with that of his brother-in-law, was published by Murray in 1850. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries.
