Tuesday evening the eight day of December 1829

In the Name of God Amen This is the last Will and Testament of Martha Gover of the City of Exeter Widow of Nicholas Gover deceased ffirst I do bequeath unto the Reverend John ffisher Turner Clerk Rector of Saint Mary Major in this City the Sum of £150 in the General Bank in this City under the firm of Messrs. Sparkes and Co in trust for the purposes hereinafter mentioned namely to meet all expences that may be incurred for my funeral in the Church of St Mary Major the manner of my funeral to be thus Namely to be carried on the shoulders of eight bearers if requisite to be enclosed in a shelf & an Oak open or outer Coffin the money that may remain of the £150 after all my just debts funeral expences have been paid to be applied thus namely according to the good discretion of the aforenamed John ffisher Turner And I do appoint the Reverend John ffisher Turner the Executor of this my last Will and Testament Signed by me the said Martha Gover Witnessed by us Susanna Hooper _ Elizabeth Orchard her Mark XX

December 9th 1829

This is a Codicil to my last Will and Testament I do give & bequeath all monies that are due to me & all that I may die possessed of after all just debts are paid to the Reverend John ffisher Turner in trust to be distributed by him according to his sound judgement and discretion Witness my mark X I testifie that this is the mark of Martha Gover Susanna Hooper the mark of X Elizabeth Orchard the mark of Elizabeth Gifford X
