Charles Rewallin, virginal maker of Exeter
Devon & Cornwall Notes & Queries 9:8, (1917) pp. 241-243.
by
H. Tapley-Soper
Prepared by Michael Steer
Tapley-Soper's Note pulls together what little was known (at that time) about Charles Rewallin, of the parish of St Sidwells, an organ-maker working in Exeter in the latter part of the 17th century. The Note provides a comprehensive inventory of his goods, and as well, mentions two of his virginals, preserved at Taunton's Castle Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum respectively. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. The copy of this rare book is held at the Princeton University Library and is available from the Internet Archive.
