EXMINSTER, a parish in the hundred of EXMINSTER,county of DEVON, 5 miles (S. E. by S.) fromExeter, containing 928 inhabitants. The living is avicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter,rated in the king's books at £12, and in the patronageof the Governors of Crediton Church CorporationTrust. The church is dedicated to St. Martin. Thereis a charity school partly supported by the governors,and partly by subscription. At this village, which isvery pleasantly situated on the west side of the riverExe, a fair is held on the first Thursday in May.The Exeter canal runs through the parish.
