S Smith Travers, Esq.

In A Collection of Pedigrees of the Family of Travers or
Abstracts of Certain Documents Collected Towards a History of that Family
.
Oxford: J H & J Parker (1864), pp. ix, 49.

Transcribed by Michael Steer

The first recorded members of the family were in Lancashire, and Smith Travers' original goal was to document the link between the Travers of Nateby and the later Travers of Horton. Family tradition associates its roots in Normandy at the time of the Conquest. Branches of the family have been traced to several otherEnglish counties including Devonshire, where they first settled at Pille. There is another large, well established branch in Ireland. This rare book was produced from a digital copy held by the Bodleian Library that can be downloaded from Google Books. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. Those on which copyright has expired are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
