Estate Duty Office Will of Hannah Squance, of Great Torrington (1828)

Proved, 26th May 1828. (Died 20 Nov 1826, buried 22 Nov 1826 at Great Torrington.)

"I Hannah SQUANCE of Great Torrington in the County of Devon, widow, do make and execute my Last Will and Testament as follows: I give, devise and bequeath unto my Grandson Barry Parr SQUANCE and his Heirs all my right, title and interest in and to my Dwelling House situate in Silver Street in the Parish of Bideford in the County of Devon and now in the occupation of James BRANNAN. I also give, devise and bequeath unto the said Barry Parr SQUANCE and my son William SQUANCE their Executors and Administrators and Assigns all that my Fields or Closes of Land situate at Holloway Head in the Parish of Great Torrington late in the possession of James WARD also all those two Fields called the Tree Field or Bush Close and Taylors Close lying in the Parish of Great Torrington aforesaid and in the occupation of Hannah JUDD and James CUTCLIFFE during all my right, title and interest in the same, Upon Trust for the sole and separate use and benefit of my Grand Daughter Louisa Sarah MATTHEWS during her life and after her decease Upon trust for all and every the (child and) children of the said Louisa Sarah MATTHEWS and in case there shall be no children of the Body of the said Louisa Sarah MATTHEWS thereto the use of my Grandson Frederick John SQUANCE, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns during the residue of my right title and interest in the same. All my other Estate either real or personal not hereintofore disposed of I give devise and bequeath unto my son Wm. SQUANCE his Heirs, Executors Administrators and Assigns and appoint him the said William SQUANCE and the said Barry Parr SQUANCE Executors to this my last Will and Testament.

Published and declared by the said Testator H. SQUANCE as and for her last will and Testament ---- of us who at her request in her presence and ---- of each other have hereunto subscribed our witnesses thereto....

This Sheet of Paper contains a true Copy of the last Will and Testament of the above named Hannah SQUANCE deceased the same having been carefully examined and compared with the original this 26th day of May 1828.
