HALWELL, a parish in the hundred of COLERIDGE, county of DEVON, 5¼ miles (S. by W.) from Totness, containing 468 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Harberton, in the archdeaconry of Totness, and diocese of Devon, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter. The church is dedicated to St. Leonard.
