Some Hatherleigh worthies of the seventeenth century

Trans. Devon. Assoc. 36, (1904) pp.289-301.

by

Sir Roper Lethbridge

Prepared by Michael Steer

The paper's author, Sir Roper Lethbridge C.I.E (1840-1919) was an academic and civil servant in India and a Conservative Party politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1885 to 1892. He was a relatively frequent contributor to the Association's Transactions. This paper focuses on the life and times of three of his kinsmen, resident in Hatherleigh during the 17th century, all of whom were living at the time of the 1660 Restoration. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
