Supplement to "Domesday Analysis in Hundreds"

Trans. Devon Assoc., vol. 36, (1904), pp. 156-172.

by

Rev. T.W. Whale

Prepared by Michael Steer

This paper is a supplement to Rev Reichel's 1903 paper "Domesday Analysis by Hundreds". Its author asserts that difficulties were encountered by Reichel in correctly locating some parishes that were not mentioned by name in any Domesday manor. Consequently Whale has provided a useful investigation of Devon's ancient chapelries and relates them, particularly those in Exeter, to the county's parish divisions. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
