Will of Hannah Bulgin, Widow of Holcombe Rogus

This is the last Will and Testament of me Hannah Bulgin of Holton Rogus in the County of Devon Widow made and published this twenty first day of April one thousand eight hundred and twenty first I give and bequeath unto Mary Hellings of Holcombe Rogus aforesaid Widow the sum of two hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain upon the trusts and to and for the purposes hereinafter mentioned of and concerning the same that is to say upon trust that she the said Mary Hellings her executors and admors shall and do as soon as conveniently may be after my death put place and lend the said sum of two hundred pounds at interest on good and sufficient security or securities either real or personal as she the said Mary Hellings shall think fit and the interest and proceeds therefrom arising do and shall pay over into the hands of my Sister Rebecca the Wife of George Gurnett of Dorking in the County of Surry builder or else well and sufficiently authorize and empower her to receive the same for and during her natural life to and for her own sole and separate use exclusive of her husband and wherewith he is not to intermeddle nor shall the same be subject to or liable to his controul debts or engagements but to and for her own sole and separate use and the receipt of my said Sister alone shall be a sufficient discharge for the same from time to time notwithstanding her coverture and from and after the decease of my said Sister Rebecca or in case she shall happen to die in my life time then I give and bequeath the said principal sum of two hundred pounds unto and amongst all and every the Children of my said Sister Rebecca lawfully begotten that shall be living at the time of her death equally to be divided between them share and share alike to be paid to them respectively when and as they shall attain to their respective ages of twenty one years to and for their own use and benefit also I give to my said Sister Rebecca Gurnett the sum of thirty pounds of like lawful money to be paid her by my Executrix hereinafter named immediately after my decease also I give to William Jones of Holcombe Rogus aforesaid Labourer son of Henry Jones the sum of sixty pounds of like lawful money to be paid to him by my Executrix hereinafter named within three months next after my death but in case the said William Jones shall happen to die before the said Legacy to him given shall become payable then I give the same unto and amongst all his Children that shall be living at the time of his death equally between them share and share alike also I give to Ann Webber Wife of Thomas Webber of Halberton in the County of Devon Gentleman and daughter of my Executrix hereinafter named the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to her by my Executrix in six months after my death also I give to Mary Hellings another daughter of my said Executrix the like sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to her in six months after my death by my Executrix hereinafter named all the rest residue and remainder of my messuages Lands Goods Chattels monies and securities for money money in the funds or elsewhere personal and testamentary estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever subject to the payment of my just debts the aforesaid legacies and my funeral expences I give devise and bequeath to my good friend the said Mary Hellings the elder of Holcombe Rogus aforesaid Widow to hold the same unto and to the use of the said Mary Hellings her heirs executors admors and assigns absolutely for ever whom I appoint Executrix of my said Will In Witness whereof I the said Hannah Bulgin have to this my Will contained in two sheets of paper to the first sheet set my hand and to this second sheet my hand and seal the day and year first above written Hannah Bulgin
