KENTISBURY, a parish, in the hundred of BRAUNTON, county of DEVON, 8 miles (E. by S.) from Ilfracombe, containing 307 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £12. 10. 7½., and in the patronage of Mr. and Mrs. Sweet. There is a place of worship for Baptists. Mary Jones, in 1783, gave a small rent-charge for the instruction of children.
