MEETH, a parish in the hundred of SHEBBEAR, county of DEVON, 3 miles (N. by E.) from Hatherleigh, containing 270 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £9. 7. 6., and in the patronage of the Rev. F. D. Lampriere. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
