NORTH BOVEY

"NORTH BOVEY, a parish in the hundred of Teignbridge, in the county of Devon, 2 miles to the S.W. of Morton Hampstead. Exeter is its post town. It is situated in a pleasant district on the West Teign river, near East Down Hill. Extensive tin-mines are worked in the neighbourhood. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Exeter, of the value of £263, in the patronage of the Earl of Devon. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The charitable endowments, consisting of several bequests for education, produce £9 a year. A cattle fair is held here on the Monday after Midsummer-day.
