The xiiith day of Aprill Anno Dni 1629

In the name of God Amen. I John Pasmoore of the parish of Northmolton in the Countie of Devon yeoman beinge sicke of bodie but in good and perfect memory thankes bee vnto Allmightie God Reuokinge all former wills and testaments doe make this my last will & Testamt in manner and forme following That is to saie ffirst I bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmightie God And my bodie vnto the Christian buriall Item I giue to the reparacon of the Church of Northmolton twelue pence Item I giue to the poore of Northmolton twentie shillings to bee distributed amongst them the very daie of my funerall, by the direction of my Executrix to this my will or by some other by her appointmt Item I giue and assigne vnto John Pasmoore my sonne the moity and halfendeale of one iustment called by the name of South Downe Cowlam Marsh the two Sowthther meadowes the great Copps woods and the little copps wood sometyme part of the tenement of Holridge lyinge wthin the parish of Northmolton and is the lande of John Bampfeild Esqr and now in the occupacon of me the said John Pasmoore together with all the profitts and comodities belonging vnto the said moitie and halfendeale Provided allwaies and my will is that the said John Pasmoore my sonne and his assignes shall suffer Johane Pasmoore my wife quietly to enjoy the said moiety and halfendeale of all the aforesaid premisses for the space of fower yeares next after my decease or pay vnto her the some of twentie pounds of lawfull money of England wthin two yeares next after my decease Item I doe giue vnto the said John Pasmoore my sonne two steers two kyne and one mare, and her colt to bee delivered wthin one month after my decease And further my will is that whereas I did promise in marriage wth Johane Burgis vnto John Burgis her husband and vnto John Burgis of Beriam ffather of the said John Burgis my sonne in lawe to giue the some of one hundred & ten pounds of lawfull money vpon condicon that if the said John Burgis the ffather or the said John Burgis the sonne should procure an estate for the tearme of the life of the said Johane Burgis my Daughter vnto her and for her only liuelyhood and maintenance in one Tenement called Beriam wherein the said John Burgis now dwelleth in Northmolton aforesaid, or in some other Tenement worth by the yeare thirtie pounds for the true perfomance of the same I doe binde my Executrix to this my will to paie the said hundred and ten pounds by mee giuen in marriage as aforesaid in such manner and such condicons as is hereafter expressed in this my will That is to saie that if the said John Burgis my sonne in lawe husband vnto my daughter or some other in his behalf shall procure a good estate for tearme of the life of the said Johane Burgis my daughter in the foresaid Tenement called Beryam lying in Northmolton aforesaid wherein the said John Burgis the father now dwelleth or in some other liueing or tenement for tearme of her life worth by the yeare thirtie pounds or twentie pounds at the least That then the said some of one hundred and ten pounds formerly rehearsed shalbe due to bee paid towards the takeing of any of the liueings heretofore expressed, otherwise my will is, and it is allwaies provided that John Burgis my sonne in lawe neither John Burgis his father nor any one of them, shall not by this my will haue any right, title clayme or interest vnto the hundred and ten pounds promised in marriage wth my daughter nor have any power by this my will to sue or commence any suite in any court whatsoeuer against my Executrix to this my will for the same, neither doe I intend the gift of any other hundred and ten pounds but only the hundred and ten pounds promised in marriage Provided allwaies and farther my will is that if it shall happen the said John Burgis my sonne in lawe shall die before any liueing shalbe taken to his wife, his wife Johane my daughter liueing That then my will is that the said some of one hundred and tenne pounds shalbe payed vnto the said Johane Burgis my daughter and she to dispose of the same as she listeth And likewise further my will is that if the said Johane Burgis my daughter shall happen to die liueinge the said John Burgis her husband That then the moity and halfendeale of the foresaid hundred and tenn pounds before rehearsed shall remaine vnto the Children of the said Johane Burgis my Daughter And the other moity of the said hundred and ten pounds I doe by this my will giue vnto Johane Pasmoore my wife and vnto John Pasmoore my sonne equally to bee devided betweene them Item I doe giue vnto Johane Burgis my daughter one pewter dish performed and one little brasse pott which came from Molland to bee delivered after my wiues decease Item I doe by this my will giue and assigne vnto Elizabeth Pasmoore my daughter all my right title and terme of yeares yet unexpired in one Close of land called the Rooweparke and one meadow belonginge to the same lyinge in the parish of Chittlehampton in the Countie od Devon and now in the occupacon of mee the said John Pasmoore to bee delivered and assigned into her hands when she shalbe married or accomplish the age of twentie one yeares Provided allwaies and my will is that my wife Johane Pasmoore Executrix to this my will shall finde and provide for the said Elizabeth my Daughter Competent and Sufficient meate drinke lodginge and apparrell, and all other necessaries for the said Elizabeth untill she shalbe married or accomplish the age of twentie one yeares as aforesaid, wch if the said Johane Pasmoore shall refuse soe to doe Then my will is that the said Elizabeth Pasmoore my Daughter shall have the foresaid close of land called the Rooweparke, and the meadow belonging to the same presently assigned vnto her by my Executrix after such refusal Provided allwaies and farther my will is that if the said Elizabeth Pasmoore my Daughter shall happen to die before shee shalbe married or accomplish the age of twentie one yeares Then my will is that the said close of land called Roowpke and the meadow belonging to the same shall remaine vnto Johane Pasmoore my wife and to John Pasmoore my sonne iontly betwixt them duringe the life of the said Johan my wife, if my right in the same shall continue for longe, and after my Wiues decease wholy vnto John Pasmoore my sonne and his assignes Item I doe giue vnto Elizabeth Pasmoore my Daughter my best chest, one pott of brasse and one pewter dish performed to bee delivered after my wiues decease Item I doe giue vnto the said Elizabeth my Daughter six Ewe sheepe Item I doe giue vnto Anne Burgis the daughter of John Burgis my sonne in lawe two Ewe sheepe Item I doe giue vnto John Pasmoore my sonne the moity and halfendeale of all my vtensills of houshold and houshold stuffe Together with the halfendeale of all my other dead stuffe whatsoever that is not heretofore giuen vnto him in marriage, neither as a legacie to any of his Sisters to bee delivered after my wiues decease The corne only excepted, Item I doe giue vnto Michaell Pasmoore my sonnes son one ewe and one lamb Item I doe giue vnto each of my Godchildren six pence apeece if it be lawfully demaunded Item I doe giue vnto each of my servants two shillings apeece All the rest of my goods and Chattells not heretofore giuen nor bequeathed my debts and legacies paid and my funerall discharged I doe giue and bequeath vnto Johan Pasmoore my wife and her I make my whole and sole Executrix to this my last will and testament And I doe entreate and appoint to bee Overseers to this my will my welbeloued friends Thomas Smith of Nadrid Willm Thorne Thomas Slader and John Pasmoore my sonne to see this my will performed and I doe giue to each of them for theire paines twelue pence Memorandum my will is that Johane Pasmoore my wife shall suffer Elizabeth Pasmoore my daughter to have sixe ewe sheepe quietly to feede and pasture in the Close at Chittlehampton vntill such tyme as she shall have the said Close assigned vnto her
