In the Name of God Amen I James Randell of Plymouth in the Countie of Devon
Marriner beinge now bound forth in a voyage unto the Seas Doe make and
Declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme followinge
ffirst I comend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my Maker Saviour
and Redeemer, And my bodie to Christian buryall when it shall please God to
dispose thereof .....? ......? by the Death of his sonne Jesus Christ to
inherite eternall life. Item I give and bequeath to the poore of Plymouth
twentie shillinges. Item I give and bequeath to my sonne Leonard Randell
five shillinges. All the rest of my goodes chattels whatsoever not before
given and bequeathed, I give and bequeath to Agnes Randell my wife whom I
doe ordaine and by theirs? presente make my sole Executrix of this my last
Will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and
seale y..ven? the second daie of July in the eighteenth yeare of the raigne
of our Soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God Kinge of England Scotland
Ffrance and Ireland defender of the faith Anno Dud? one thousand six hundred
fortie two [2 Jul 1642] : James Randell Signed sealed and acknowledged by
the said James Randell to be his Testament and last Will in the presence of
